The mission of the National Association for Music Education is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all. To accomplish this mission, a strategic direction for the National Association for Music Education is to develop and maintain comprehensive coalitions, strategic alliances, partnerships, and sponsorships to advance arts education and the arts.

Membership in the National Association for Music Education gives companies and organizations the opportunity to advance arts education and the arts and to connect with music teachers, supervisors, students, and the music education community.
